Born-and-raised Bruggeling with Bruges in his blood.
Calling myself a true Bruggeling is certainly no exaggeration. I was born in Bruges, went to school in the heart of the city, even completed my military service here, and my very first job was in the only factory inside “the egg”: the yeast factory.
My family history is thoroughly Bruges as well. My grandfather was born in what is now the Gezelle Museum, as the son of gardener E. Leys, the successor of Guido Gezelle’s father. My grandmother was the daughter of the café owner of ’t Spijtje, today better known as “De Stoepa”.
With great passion I share the beauty of Bruges and the many stories the city holds, enriched with personal anecdotes that come straight from a life lived in Bruges.
